Sophia's 6th Birthday

This post will be all about Sophia's birthday party. I will do another post about what she is up to and interested in these days.

Like Bella's we celebrated Soph's birthday a day early, on Saturday.
Pancakes, of course, and one '6'!
This girl has grown up so much!
Even though the plan was to take the party to a horse farm, ride horses, and do the party there, I still decorated a little. Glad I did because a rain delay brought the party to our house.

Right after breakfast we did some family gifts.

For her birthday all she wanted to do was ride a horse with some friends. We had heard about the horse farm, went to check it out the week before and we were very excited. We let her invite 3 girlfriends, which was a perfect number.

Sophia, for her cake, actually wanted chocolate chip pie, which was easy. She also asked for the singing candle, and we obliged. She loved the addition of mini-Sophia to the cake holding an umbrella just like Bella's.

Since horses were the theme, we drew pictures of horses all week and decorated with those pics.

Our original plan was to leave for the farm around 9 a.m., but misty rain came. David checked the forecast and thought it would break around 11 a.m. So we invited everyone to our house for pie and gifts at 10:00.

we got her a real watch and she loves it!

We left at 10:30 for horseback riding. It worked out perfect, the rain stopped but it stayed overcast and gave us relief from the heat.

This place has 8 horses and then a big restaurant all outdoors on a pond where you can fish and walk on bamboo bridges surrounded by rice fields that are stellar green right now. And then off in the distance of this valley the mountains produce a perfect landscape.

When we arrived two couples were ahead of us riding. They already had chosen the horse which happened to be Sophia's favorite from the previous week, Xiao Long (little dragon). She is a beauty, and a little spirited.

While we waited we fed the other horses and the girls had fun exploring and playing.
This white horse, the owners say, is feisty and not the calmest. But she is pretty.

I love this pic of Bella looking up at this horse talking to it.

Bella and Tobin helped sweep up around the stalls.

Her sweet friends, YY, A, Sophia, and LBH

Pretending to ride horses as they wait their turn.

Finally it was their turn!!! Sophia went first, we chose to have the trainer ride with her on the horse and this had her feeling the most comfortable, because she was a little scared.

Ready to go. Off they go.

We live in a gorgeous place.

What a day!

LBH is only a little bit younger than Sophia, but is tiny!

After the riding, we ordered food and ate at the restaurant, the food was quite good, the atmosphere even better.

They loved playing on these bridges and running around.

As we were about to leave, the girls had run way down the boardwalk to get some flowers, David went after them to tell them it was time to leave and found one of her friends standing there screaming/crying with her knee gushing with blood. He picked her up and yelled at the girls to hurry back and get 'Uncle D', the girls dad, who also happens to be a doctor. David carried her to where we were and her dad applied pressure to stop the bleeding. David went to go tell the managers. A lady who happened to be eating at the restaurant, also happened to be a doctor at the local hospital. She had a first aid kit in her car and helped tremendously by supplying gauze, etc.

When it was all said and done, Sophia's friend ended up with 6 stitches on Soph's 6 birthday. Yes, indeed it was memorable.

Seriously, we had a very blessed day and God's provision was all over the place, even in this incident.
We are so thankful for our six year old, growing up to be quite a little lady.
